An archivist in the Manuscript Division Preparation Section since 1991, Nan came to realize that an institutional giant such as the LC, needs its employees’ perspective and involvement to keep a human scale to its endeavors. This maxim was borne out repeatedly as she served as Guild representative on the LC Safety and Health Committee (emergency management, disability access issues), as a steward representing employees in the dispute resolution and grievance process, and in negotiations with management at the bargaining table. Currently serving as Chief Steward, Nan invites all LC employees to join the Guild and promote a model workplace.
