“For the Library to prosper it must establish a modern and progressive work environment where employees can continually develop their skills so that they may maintain a high quality of public service and performance.”
Since 1976, members of the Guild have worked to establish a modern and progressive Library of Congress.
Through organization and collective bargaining the Guild has enhanced the qualitiy of worklife at the Library. This has helped employees to balance the demands of work and the aspirations of career with the needs of family and personal life.
Professional employees join the Guild because they want to participate in decisions that affect their careers and their conditions of employment.
